Dust Crust was called forth from the uncanny biodiversity that slowly emerges in the aftermath of the destructive force of a volcano, from the first lichens to the towering pines. In the depths of the volcanic landscape lie stories of rebirth and persistence, resilience and endurance in the exquisite layers of life that emerge from the ashes.
The story begins at the border of a deep forest, close to the ground, where the black soils of a summer nectarine orchard give way to mossy forest floor. The juicy brightness of the stone fruit mingles with the creaminess of Chanterelle mushrooms and soothing Tulsi's refreshing dark mint chocolate tones. The cool harmonies of Holy Basil invite the wearer to experience a sense of renewal - the embodiment of standing amidst a thriving landscape where new life is reclaiming its place amongst the hardened lava crevices.
The earthy, buttery sweetness of Chanterelles leads us from the depths of the forest through more intermittent stands of grounding Cedar and resinous Lodgepole pine toward an endless, open rocky expanse where only the hardiest of life forms can survive.
As the perfume progresses, mesmerizing Golden Moonglow and Snow lichens intertwine with woody Douglas Fir and resins drifting on the breeze. A bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds, these lichens epitomize transformation and the beauty of endurance. This unusual bouquet speaks to the tenacity of life that flourishes in the harshest conditions, the elegance of the earliest life clinging to rock and the vital sap of gnarled, scrubby pines that rise defiantly against the sky.
Effervescent Twisted Grimmia mosses and Cryptic Paw lichens continue to emerge through the base, mirroring the complex communal matrix that forms the basis for future life to grow. An immersive puff of husky Burley Tobacco and dry Cedar of Lebanon form a sweet smoky commemoration of the volcano itself, reconnecting what was with what is still to come.
